Transparency to me means more than openness. It means trusting that given the facts, and exploring the viable options, the majority of us will come to the same conclusion, and see the course of action that must be followed. It does not fit with an attitude that says, “I know what’s best for you, trust me. You don’t need to know the details”. It calls for a sharing of information with the belief that decisions made will stand up to the light of day.
I believe accountability is the acknowledgment and assumption of responsibility for actions, decisions, and policies, including the administration, and governance within the scope of my role as a City Councillor. This encompasses the obligation to report, explain and be answerable for resulting consequences.
Integrity is choosing your thoughts and actions based on values rather than on personal gain. I believe I have the moral courage to make my actions consistent with my knowledge of right and wrong.
